Winters Raising Funds for Galway Hospice and Jigsaw

Raising Money for Charity

As many will recall on a blustery day back in May, 25 members of Winters staff took on Croagh Patrick in aid of Galway Hospice & Jigsaw Galway. Both very important charities in Galway and close to our hearts here at Winters. This was one of many of our charity events this year and it was a wonderful day with (most) staff reaching the peak in under 80 minutes.

Jigsaw Galway

Jigsaw Galway is a free and confidential service supporting the mental health and wellbeing of people aged 15 – 25 in Galway city and county. Jigsaw’s aim is to support young people in Galway who are struggling, to ensure they get the support they need, when and where they need it.

We raised a total of €1510 for Jigsaw who we highly admire and value because of the work they do to help our young people. We are delighted to help in any way possible as we value the wellbeing of our young people. Being involved directly with young people throughout all our student villages we see the pressures young people are under today and the guidance and support offered by Jigsaw to help in distressing times is crucial.

Galway Hospice

Everyone loves tea! So we decided to hold a tea morning in September in aid of Galway Hospice. We invited all local businesses into our head office in Galway where we enjoyed some delicious home-made treats, tea and chats. It is nice to take time out once in a while to support other people in need.

Although Hospice care cannot claim to extend life, it can certainly improve the quality of life for each patient so that each day can be lived to the full.  As Hospice care service is provided free of charge, regardless of each person’s means they need as much support as possible. Galway hospice also provides a range of supports to the families of patients. We were delighted to help such a worthy cause and in total raised €2023.57.

Motor Neurone Disease and & Alzheimer’s Society

A special mention to Senior Property Manager, Peter Nicklin who took part in the London to Ballaghaderreen Sponsored Bike Ride in aid of Motor Neurone Disease and & Alzheimer’s Society. Peter covered a distance of 240km in 2 days. Winters were delighted to sponsor Peter and support this great cause. This was an excellent fundraiser where a quarter of a million pounds were raised for two great charities.
