Staff Spotlight: Louise Burke

Louise Burke joined Winters Property Management in 2017 and is currently a Property Service Agent for Winters Property Management.

We asked Louise to answer the following questions relating to both her personal and professional experiences:

How has Winters helped you in your career development?

Since starting as a receptionist in 2017, I worked my way up gaining insight into the letting department and other aspects of the company. I was given the opportunity to progress into my current role as a Property Service agent in 2019 where I am now heavily involved with the property management department.

I am also currently attending an online course in Property Services with the intention to progress further in the company and gain more experience in the Property Industry. Winters have given me great opportunities since I have started working here and I am very grateful and look forward to progressing further within Winters Property.

What has been your favourite project to work on so far?

As a part of my course in Construction, I was instructed to do a Pre-Purchase Visual Survey on a property. It allowed me to investigate all aspects of the property and taught me valuable engineering procedures. I found it to be very interesting and it allowed me to understand the theory of my learnings.

Give insight into a typical day in the office?

In current times, a typical day in the office has changed. Our team have remained positive and remote working has been a success. Luckily all the staff at Winters PM are a very close team and everyone helps each other out. No two days are the same and I like that challenge.

What is on your wish list?

  • Drive Route 66 in a vintage VW camper van (lifelong dream!!)
  • Own a vintage VW camper van
  • Tour South America & visit Cuba
  • Attend the Tomorrowland festival
  • Visit Australia

What is your proudest moment professional or personal?

Personally, when I completed a PADI open water scuba diving course in Thailand. It was something I always wanted to do but I was also scared to do it. The minute I started the course I loved it and surprised myself by remaining calm when I had to dive 20 meters underwater. It was the most amazing experience and I was so proud of this achievement and overcoming my fears. Obstacles in the workplace often arise so by applying these learnings and having the confidence to do so has helped me overcome numerous challenges.

Where is the best place you’ve travelled to and why?

I lived in a town called Surat Thani in Thailand for 9 months, teaching English. I have so many incredible memories here and I would consider it the best place I have visited so far. I had the opportunity to head off to tropical islands every weekend, viewing stunning sites and swimming in beautiful weather. I befriended many Thai people, getting to know the Thai culture, eating amazing food and attending many social events which were unique experiences.

Where would you like to go on your dream holiday?

I have always wanted to go to Santorini & Skopelos which are Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. Mamma Mia one of my favourite movies is set here which is mainly the reason why, as well as the stunning views.

What changes have you seen during your time within the company?

Since I started working I have noticed many improvements. Winters puts great emphasises on promoting Health & Wellbeing in the workplace which is a wonderful initiative. The company now host a Wellness Week each year & other wellness activities throughout the year. During the pandemic as we are all working remotely, there is a weekly fitness session available via zoom for all staff members so we can all keep in touch and stay fit.
