Q: Who do I pay my rent to?
A: At the beginning of the lease you will be informed by the letting agent if the landlord or the agent is dealing with the property.
If the landlord is dealing with the property himself, the agent will provide you with bank account details for the landlord and/or will ask you to sign a mandate instructing your bank to set up a Standing Order for monthly rent payments to your landlord’s account.

Q: When is my rent payment debited from my account?
A: If you have arranged to pay by Standing Order with your bank, then your rent payment should be debited from your account approximately 3-5 days (depending on the bank) prior to your contract / rent due date in order to ensure that it has reached our account and cleared on time.
Your rent should be in our account and cleared by the due date each month. Otherwise, your rent will be deemed late and a late rent charge may apply.
Q: What do I do if my rent is going to be late or the Standing Order is not processed?
A: You need to contact your letting agent immediately if you realise that your account will not have sufficient funds to meet the Standing Order date. You will need to pay the rent directly to the office if you have missed the Standing Order date, and also contact your bank to advise them, as the bank will not try to process the Standing Order a second time and may charge you for failing to meet the Standing Order date.
Q: What do I need to do if my rent amount changes or if I change banks during the tenancy?
A: If you are paying your rent by Standing Order each month, you need to advise your bank directly and in good time of any changes to the Standing Order. You need to advise your letting agent of any changes to your bank account or if you change banks. Your letting agent will also advise you on how to set up your new Standing Order and provide you with your unique reference which enables them to identify your monthly rental payments.
Q: How do I cancel my Standing Order once my rental contract has terminated?
A: You are the only person who can alter or cancel your Standing Order; therefore you will need to contact your bank once your final month’s rent has been paid to request the cancellation of your Standing Order.
